Crowned by an unfinished copy of the Parthenon, the Nelson Monument and the old City Observatory, the hill helped give Edinburgh its nickname of the Athens of the North. From the top you can look along the length of the Royal Mile, across the New Town and out to the sea.
Beste Besuchszeit: Walk up for sunset, when the light falls along Princes Street towards the castle.
