The Golden Mile stretches north from the harbour mouth, with a wide promenade running behind a chain of sandy beaches and piers. North Beach is one of the liveliest, known for its surf breaks and the joggers, cyclists and families who crowd the seafront. The water is warm for much of the year and the beaches are protected by shark nets and lifeguards.
Beste Besuchszeit: Walk or cycle the promenade early in the morning, when surfers are out and the sea is calm.
