Completed in the early twentieth century, Emmanuel Cathedral stands on the edge of the Warwick Junction markets, close to the Juma Masjid, a reflection of the city's diversity. Its twin spires and stained glass interior are a calm refuge from the bustle outside, and it was long associated with Archbishop Denis Hurley, a prominent opponent of apartheid.
