Work on a great chedi here began in the reign of Rama III, but the soft ground gave way and the ruin became a mound that later kings topped with the present golden chedi. A winding stairway of a few hundred steps, lined with bells and shrines, leads to a terrace looking out across the rooftops of Rattanakosin.
Beste Besuchszeit: Climb the spiral stair in the late afternoon and stay to watch the sun set over the old city.
