About
From the seventh century the Daming Palace was the principal seat of the Tang emperors, far larger than the later Forbidden City. It was destroyed at the end of the dynasty, and today its foundations are marked out across landscaped parkland, with a reconstructed gatehouse and museums explaining its scale.
Best time to go: Walk or take the electric cart around the site on a fine morning, starting at the Danfeng Gate.
