About
John III Sobieski, victor of the Battle of Vienna in 1683, built Wilanów as his summer residence. The palace blends Polish, Italian and French influences, and its rooms and gardens, which escaped the destruction of the war, give a rich picture of royal and aristocratic life.
Best time to go: Combine the palace rooms with a walk through the Baroque gardens down to the lake.
