About
Founded in 1949 and housed since 1976 in a concrete and glass building by Arthur Erickson, the museum is inspired by the post-and-beam houses of Northwest Coast peoples. Its Great Hall displays towering carved poles against views of sea and mountains. The collection also includes textiles, ceramics and objects from around the world.
Best time to go: Allow time in the Great Hall with its totem poles, and see Bill Reid's sculpture The Raven and the First Men.
