About
In the 1890s Baron Etienne van Zuylen van Nyevelt, backed by his Rothschild wife, commissioned the architect Pierre Cuypers to rebuild the ruined family castle. The result has lavish interiors with modern comforts of its day, surrounded by moats, gardens and a village that was moved to make room for the park.
Best time to go: Go on a weekday and allow time for the formal gardens and parkland as well as the interior.
