About
The main gardens occupy Fort Hoofddijk, part of the old defensive water line east of Utrecht. A large rock garden covers the old ramparts, and there are tropical greenhouses and themed plantings that show off the university's botanical collections.
Best time to go: Visit in spring or summer and climb the old fort's bastion for a view over the gardens.
