About
Huanchaco's fishermen still use caballitos de totora, small reed boats they ride out through the surf, a tradition depicted on ancient Moche pottery. The village has a long pier, a beach popular with surfers and plenty of cevicherías, making it an easy escape from the city.
Best time to go: Come for lunch, try a fresh ceviche, and watch the fishermen launch their reed boats in the afternoon.
