About
Built from many millions of adobe bricks, the Huaca del Sol was the political heart of the Moche capital. Much of it was destroyed in the colonial period when the Spanish diverted the Moche river to wash away its interior in search of treasure, but its eroded bulk still dominates the desert plain.
Best time to go: See it from the Huaca de la Luna visit, as the pyramid itself is not open to visitors.
