About
Once a fishing village, Scheveningen became a fashionable resort in the nineteenth century, and the grand Kurhaus hotel still overlooks the sea. Today its broad beach, pier and promenade are popular all year, and the harbour is known for its fresh herring and seafood restaurants.
Best time to go: Take the tram from the centre on a fine afternoon and walk the promenade to the pier.
