About

Stretching for more than two kilometres, the beach faces the North Sea and is backed by grassy dunes. It is popular for swimming, walking and windsurfing, with a hotel and cafés near its northern end. The flat, wide coast of Jæren, with its open light, is quite different from the fjords inland.

Best time to go: Go on a breezy summer afternoon to walk the dunes, or watch the kitesurfers riding the waves.
