About
The Flying Saucer was built in 1978 in the Brutalist style and first opened as a café, restaurant, newsstand, gift shop and pharmacy. From 1988 to 1997 it housed a supermarket. The Sharjah Art Foundation later restored the building, and it now serves as a community art space, a striking piece of the city's modern architectural history. Its rounded concrete shell is one of the most distinctive buildings in the city.
