About
The palace was designed by Bernard Maybeck for the 1915 Panama-Pacific International Exposition, which celebrated the city's recovery from the 1906 earthquake. It was intended to be temporary but proved so popular that it was later rebuilt in permanent materials. Swans, willows and the lagoon make it a favourite spot for photographs.
Best time to go: Visit in the early morning or at dusk, when the rotunda reflects in the lagoon.
