About
Run by the South African National Biodiversity Institute, the garden is split by a natural ridge that creates cooler south-facing and warmer north-facing slopes. It showcases plants from the country's many biomes, from grassland and savanna to succulent Karoo. Trails climb the ridge, where dassies bask on the rocks and birdlife is abundant.
Best time to go: Come in the early morning for birdwatching, or for an outdoor concert on a summer weekend.
