The port was dug in the 18th century from a marsh, and its ochre and red buildings give it an Italian look. Walk the quays to the lighthouse, watch the ferries to Corsica, and continue along the coast road towards Villefranche.
Best time to go: Late afternoon, then dinner in the restaurants around the harbour.
