About
Tradition links the tank to the god Rama, whose arrow is said to have released a spring here, and the present stone tank dates back to the twelfth century. Small temples, shrines and old houses surround its stepped banks, and ducks and bathers share the water in one of the most unexpectedly tranquil corners of south Mumbai.
Best time to go: Come in the early morning, when pilgrims bathe and the stone steps are at their most peaceful.
