About
The oratory grew from a small chapel built in 1904 by Brother André, a lay brother revered for his devotion to Saint Joseph and later canonised. The basilica's dome is one of the largest of its kind in the world. Pilgrims still climb the central staircase, and the complex includes a museum, gardens and a votive chapel filled with candles.
Best time to go: Climb the steps to the terrace for a view across the west of the city, then visit the Crypt Church.
