About
The mountain rises behind downtown and has been a public park since 1876, when it was designed by the landscape architect behind Central Park in New York. Wide paths lead through woods to Beaver Lake and the lookout above the city, while an illuminated cross stands on the summit. On Sunday afternoons in summer, drummers gather at the foot of the park.
Best time to go: Climb the trails to the Kondiaronk Belvedere for the classic view over downtown and the river.
