About
Henry VIII took the land as a hunting ground, and it opened to the public in the seventeenth century. Today it is a place for lakeside walks, open-air swimming, the Diana Memorial Fountain and the debates of Speakers' Corner, and it runs seamlessly into Kensington Gardens to the west.
Best time to go: Hire a pedalo on the Serpentine on a fine afternoon, or stroll to Kensington Gardens.
