About
Barranco began as a seaside resort for wealthy Limeños in the nineteenth century, and its pastel villas later drew writers, artists and musicians. The wooden Puente de los Suspiros crosses a leafy ravine leading down to the ocean, and the district is home to several galleries and museums and some of the city's liveliest nightlife.
Best time to go: Wander at sunset over the Bridge of Sighs down to the sea, then stay for dinner and live music.
