About
Construction began in 1641 under the emperor Shah Jahan, when Mughal art and design were at their peak. The garden follows the Persian model of a paradise garden, meant to show people living in harmony with nature, with water flowing through its terraces. Today it is one of the most popular sights in Pakistan and, alongside Lahore Fort, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Best time to go: Visit in the cool of the late afternoon in winter or spring, when the terraces and water channels are at their best.
