About
Archduke Ferdinand II made Ambras his residence in the sixteenth century and filled it with armour, portraits and curiosities. His Chamber of Art and Curiosities survives largely intact, and the magnificent Spanish Hall, with its coffered ceiling, is one of the finest Renaissance rooms in Europe.
Best time to go: Allow a half day and explore the gardens and Spanish Hall on a fine afternoon.
