About

The Tomb of Khải Định was built for the twelfth emperor of the Nguyễn dynasty and completed in 1931 after 11 years of work. It stands on the slopes of Châu Chữ mountain outside Huế. Its design mixes Vietnamese traditions with Western styles, which sets it apart from the older royal tombs. It became a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1993 as part of the Complex of Huế Monuments.

Best time to go: Visit in the morning and be ready for a steep flight of steps.
