About
The Tomb of Gia Long, officially Thiên Thọ Mausoleum, is the burial place of the first emperor of the Nguyễn dynasty. It lies in the countryside of Hương Trà, south of the city. Fewer visitors make the journey than to the other royal tombs, so it is usually quiet, and its rural setting shows how the Nguyễn emperors placed their tombs in the landscape.
Best time to go: Go by motorbike or boat with a guide, as it is remote and far quieter than the other royal tombs.
