About
The Perfume River, Sông Hương, flows through the city of Huế in central Vietnam. It takes its name from the flowers of orchards upriver, which fall into the water in autumn and give it a perfume-like scent. The citadel and royal monuments line its banks, and boat trips along it are the most relaxed way to reach Thiên Mụ Pagoda and some of the tombs.
Best time to go: Take a dragon boat upriver to Thiên Mụ Pagoda in the late afternoon.
