About
Kim Bồng is a woodworking village on Cẩm Kim island, across the river from Hội An. It was founded in the 15th century and reached its peak in the 18th, when its craftsmen worked on projects including the imperial capital at Huế. They also built ships and large sailing boats for Hội An's busy port. Today visitors can watch carpenters and carvers at work in the village's workshops.
Best time to go: Cross by ferry or bicycle from the old town in the morning, when workshops are busiest.
