About
Dubai Creek is a natural inlet of the Gulf that reaches about 14 kilometres inland and formed the city's original harbour. It was dredged and developed from the 1950s, and today it separates the old districts of Bur Dubai and Deira. Wooden abras still carry passengers from bank to bank, while dhows load cargo along the quays, giving a sense of the trading town Dubai was before the towers.
Best time to go: Cross by abra, the wooden water taxi, between Bur Dubai and the Deira souks; it takes only a few minutes.
