About
Completed in 1910, the house is one of the most influential buildings in American architecture, with strong horizontal lines, cantilevered roofs and an open plan. Wright also designed its art glass windows and much of its furniture. It forms part of a group of Wright's works listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Best time to go: Book a guided tour of the interior and combine it with a walk around the University of Chicago campus.
