About
Opened in 1916 as a shipping and recreation pier, it later served as a naval training centre during the Second World War. Today it is one of the city's most popular attractions, with the Centennial Wheel, a theatre, restaurants and gardens. Architecture tours and lake cruises depart from its docks.
Best time to go: Ride the Ferris wheel at dusk, and take a lake cruise from the pier for the classic skyline view.
