About
Originally a city cemetery, the land was turned into a park in the 1860s and later extended along the lakeshore. It holds the Lincoln Park Zoo, one of the oldest zoos in the country and free to enter, as well as a Victorian glasshouse full of tropical plants. Paths along the lagoon and the shore give fine views of the skyline.
Best time to go: Pair the free zoo with the conservatory, then walk to the lakefront beaches.
