About

Table Mountain's sandstone plateau stands more than a thousand metres above Table Bay and is the heart of a national park. A cableway with rotating cars has carried visitors to the top since 1929, while fit walkers can climb up Platteklip Gorge. On the summit, paths wind through unique fynbos vegetation to viewpoints over the city, Robben Island and the Twelve Apostles.

Best time to go: Go up on the first clear, windless day of your trip, as the cableway closes when the cloud and wind roll in.
