About
Founded in the late fourteenth century and rebuilt in the twentieth, the temple is unusual in Korea for standing directly by the sea rather than in the mountains. Stone steps lead down past guardian statues to halls perched on the rocky shore, and the sound of the surf fills the courtyard.
Best time to go: Arrive early in the morning to see the temple in soft light and avoid the busiest hours.
