About

Sitorai Mokhi-Khosa, the 'Palace Like the Stars and the Moon', was the country residence of the Emir of Bukhara, a few kilometres north of the old city. The earliest buildings date from the 18th century, with more added in the second half of the 19th century. The newer complex was built for the last emir, Alim Khan, between 1912 and 1920, in a European style with Eastern interiors. It now houses a museum of decorative and applied arts.

Best time to go: Take a taxi out in the morning, and allow time for the gardens as well as the rooms.
