About
Designed by the engineer André Waterkeyn for Expo 58, the Atomium represents an iron crystal magnified billions of times. Escalators inside the connecting tubes link several of its nine spheres, which hold exhibitions on the building and the fair, while the uppermost sphere offers wide views over the Heysel plateau and the city.
Best time to go: Go early in the day to avoid a wait for the lift up to the top sphere.
