About
Chinese merchants settled this district in the late eighteenth century after the royal court moved across the river, and it remains a busy trading quarter of gold shops, herbal stores and temples. By night the pavements fill with stalls selling seafood, noodles, dumplings and sweet desserts, and the side lanes reward wandering.
Best time to go: Come after dark, when the neon signs glow and the street food stalls are in full swing.
