About
The palace was built around 1920 for Princess Fatma al-Zahra, a member of the dynasty founded by Muhammad Ali. It now houses the dazzling jewellery, crowns and decorative objects of the royal family, from diamond-studded tiaras to gold chess sets. The building is a treasure in its own right, with stained glass windows and painted ceilings.
Best time to go: Take a taxi out to Zizinia and look up as much as at the display cases, for the painted glass and ceilings.
