Qasr Al Muwaiji is a fort in central Al Ain, noted as the birthplace of Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, later ruler of Abu Dhabi and second president of the UAE. Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan was based here while he served as the ruler's representative in the Eastern Region. The restored fort now tells the story of the family and of Al Ain's role in the country's history.
Best time to go: Go in the late afternoon, when the low sun warms the mud-brick walls.
