About
Laid out in the Mughal period as the Moonlight Garden, it was part of a chain of riverside gardens along the Yamuna and was aligned precisely with the tomb opposite. Archaeologists have uncovered its pools and walkways, and replanted lawns now make it the most peaceful spot to see the Taj Mahal reflected in the river at dusk.
Best time to go: Come for sunset, when the Taj Mahal glows across the river without the crowds of the main complex.
