The counts of Holland built a castle here in the thirteenth century, and the Binnenhof has been at the centre of Dutch political life for centuries. At its heart stands the Ridderzaal, the Hall of Knights, and the classic view is across the Hofvijver, where the buildings are reflected in the water.
