The Sé was begun in the twelfth century and later reworked in Gothic and Baroque styles, so its sturdy towers enclose a surprisingly ornate interior. The Gothic cloister is lined with blue-and-white azulejo panels, and the square outside looks down over the tiled roofs of the old town to the Douro.
