نبذة
Since the late nineteenth century, families of dhobis have worked here in rows of concrete wash pens, beating clothes clean on flogging stones before hanging them out in long colourful lines. The scale is remarkable, with laundry arriving from hotels, hospitals and homes across the city, and the scene gives a vivid glimpse of Mumbai's working life.
