Laid out on former farmland in the northern suburbs, the botanical garden is one of the city's favourite green spaces. Its rose garden is the highlight in spring and summer, alongside a herb garden, shady arboretum and wide lawns that slope down to Emmarentia Dam, where rowers and paddlers are often out on the water.
