Designed by Herzog and de Meuron and opened in 2017, the Elbphilharmonie sits on top of a former cocoa and tea warehouse at the tip of the HafenCity. A long curved escalator leads to the Plaza, a public terrace with wide views of the port and the Elbe. The main hall, lined with sculpted acoustic panels, is among the finest in the world.
