The museum stands at the top of Götaplatsen, behind Carl Milles's statue of Poseidon, in a building completed for the city's jubilee of 1923. Its Fürstenberg galleries hold one of the best collections of Nordic art around 1900, alongside works by Rembrandt, Rubens, Monet and Picasso.
