Almost emptied after the Second World War, Holašovice kept its rare ensemble of farmsteads built around a long village green. Their elaborate stucco gables, mostly from the nineteenth century, show the distinctive rural style known as South Bohemian folk Baroque, and the village joined the UNESCO list in 1998.
