À propos
Francisco Pizarro laid out the square when he founded the city in 1535, and it has been the centre of power ever since. The Government Palace, the cathedral, the archbishop's palace with its ornate balconies and the municipal building frame a bronze fountain from the seventeenth century, and the whole centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Meilleur moment pour y aller: Arrive before midday to see the changing of the guard at the Government Palace on the square.
