Información
Copacabana grew rapidly after a tunnel connected it to the city centre in the 1890s, and the grand Copacabana Palace hotel set its glamorous tone in the 1920s. The black-and-white wave mosaic of its promenade was redesigned by Roberto Burle Marx, and the beach hosts football games, kiosks and the city's great New Year's Eve celebration.
Mejor momento para ir: Walk the promenade early in the morning or at sunset, and keep valuables to a minimum on the sand.
