Información

Tradition holds that Abu Zama'a al-Balawi, a Companion of the Prophet Muhammad, was buried here in 654 with three hairs from the Prophet's beard, which is why the shrine is also called the Mosque of the Barber. By the eleventh century the tomb was a place of pilgrimage, and he is regarded as the city's patron saint. The present complex dates largely from a seventeenth-century expansion.

Mejor momento para ir: Dress modestly, walk quietly through the courtyards and visit outside prayer times.
